If your child has a fuller foot or a higher instep, you may need to go up a tab size. If your child has a very narrow foot or low instep, you may want to go down a size. If you require different tabs please email us.

We've had many enquiries about whether plae kids shoes will work with orthotics and AFOs. The unique design and engineering of plae shoes and interchangeable tabs allow for accommodation of orthotics and AFOs. A wider shoe opening allows for easy entry. The insoles can be removed, and a wider toe box gives you that extra needed space. The interchangeable tabs (velcro straps) come in different lengths including extra-long to allow for a custom fit.

If your child has a fuller foot or a higher instep, you may need to go up a tab size. If your child has a very narrow foot or low instep, you may want to go down a size. If you require different tabs please email us.

How should I measure my child's feet for the best fit?

We know how challenging it is to get the right fit. Just measure the length of your child's foot and match it to the cm size on the chart below. To be doubly sure, you can use the Plae Shoes Fit Kit!  Ensure you print the sheet at full size, with scaling off!

What about orthotics and AFOs?

We've had many enquiries about whether plae kids shoes will work with orthotics and AFOs. The unique design and engineering of plae shoes and interchangeable tabs allow for accommodation of orthotics and AFOs. A wider shoe opening allows for easy entry. The insoles can be removed, and a wider toe box gives you that extra needed space. The interchangeable tabs (velcro straps) come in different lengths including extra-long to allow for a custom fit.

HOW TO MEASURE

Stand with feet on a piece of paper, and mark where the end of the longest toe/s are, and middle point of the back of the heel. 

Use a ruler to measure between those two points. (Use your longest foot measurement - Look at the "BEST FIT" column to see where the foot fits best.

* If closer to the end of the "BEST FIT" measurements then the next size up will be a better choice.

For most comfortable fit, aim to have up to 7-12mm of extra space in the shoe.  

If socks will be worn in the shoes, pop on the socks and then measure in the same manner. 

We include a width measurement across the ball of the shoe, this is a measurement of the FLATTEST part of the sole, so there is always more available space than stated, as the sole curves out and up giving your feet more room to spread. 

Paperkrane shoes also have a natural rubber sole that is able to flex with a foot, which helps accommodate feet that have more width. 

While the available length measurements are the same across all styles, the upper construction affects the fit and feel of the shoe.

There are two available sizes

MEDIUM: Length is 95cm and suits sizes EU 31 - EU 36 best. (KID sizes)

LARGE: Length is 100cm and suits sizes EU 37 - EU 43 best. (ADULT sizes)

We know holes happen, sometimes that's part of the adventurous life of kids. We also know that it's not always easy to fix those holes and they get bigger and bigger. So we've created fix it kits - easy iron-on patches for longer lasting clothes.

Made with love in Wellington, Aotearoa, using end of run and leftover GOTS certified organic cotton twill.

Fix it kits are suitable for use on a variety of fabrics and garments - even on stretchy leggings!

No sewing is required. However, additional stitching can be added if you wish although not recommended on knit fabrics.
